In lieu of the extension of the HIRANG Internship Program, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI) HIRANG Internship members and their mentor from the Visiting Expert Program of Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), Dr. Lawrence L. Ilag, reunified to work on the deliverables of the program via Zoom Cloud meeting.
The HIRANG Internship team members already met with the researchers of the technologies Carboxymethyl Hyaluronic Hydrogels (CMHA) prepared by Gamma-Irradiation and Improved Morpho-agronomic Characteristics of Adlai Coix Lacryma-Jobi through Gamma Irradiation. The researchers of both technologies also gathered needed data to complete the Valuation Report such as technology costs, terminal reports, and Line-Item-Budget (LIB).
Dr. Ilag, HIRANG mentor, elucidated to the researchers that the Valuation report should give them an idea of the possible worth of the technology when offered to the potential possible adaptor. He emphasized on three (3) technology valuation approaches such as Research Costing, which uses the cost of the research and development; Market Approach, which explains the existing market rate of the technology; and Income Approach, which gives the amount of income that the potential licensee can derive from the technology. By using these approaches, they can weigh the appropriate and acceptable options for technology commercialization. All being well by the end of July 2020, the DOST-PNRI HIRANG Internship team members are able to finish the gathering and analysis of the data from the researchers and start on the write-ups of the Valuation Report.
