WATER REMOVAL THROUGH A FREEZE DRYING MACHINE
Field / Industry: Food Industry
Patent Number / Registration Number: 2-2013-000633
Status of Application: Granted
Brief Description / Features of the Technology:
Freeze-drying is a method used to dehydrate heat-sensitive materials via sublimation. The developed Freeze dryer can be used for both research and micro-scale processing. It is composed of vacuum chamber that can accommodate at most 5 adjustable trays and has a condensing capacity of 3 to 4 kg of moisture in 24 hours. With its capability for dehydration, this is typically used to preserve perishable materials or make a material more convenient for transport. Freeze-dried products may be stored at room temperature without refrigeration. The technology enables retention of most of the quality characteristics of the unprocessed food material.
Problem Addressed: Food spoilage
Advantages:
- Simplicity of Operation
- Appropriate for SMEs
